Different domains need different signals, but every methodology follows the same four rules.
Public sources, never private submissions
All signals come from public records: USPTO, ITC, PACER, the Federal Circuit. No surveys. No nominations. No private questionnaires.
Compared against peers, not against everyone
Within each ranking, signals are normalized against practice cohort so a 30-attorney specialty firm competes fairly against an AmLaw 100 generalist.
Every weight, in writing
How each signal is weighted within a category is published in each methodology document. No black box. No hidden multipliers.

Every annual methodology is archived. When the 2027 edition launches, the 2026 methodology remains exactly as it was — auditable forever.
