The third trench 136 may be formed on the flat portion 130 B below the first trench 134 .
The first trench 134 may have a different width from the second trench 132 and/or the third trench 136 . A width of the second trench 132 may be the same as or similar to a width of the third trench 136 . Namely, one of the plurality of trenches 132 , 134 and 136 may have a different width from another of the plurality of trenches 132 , 134 and 136 .
The inclined portion 130 DL may be extended from an edge of the flat portion 130 B. The inclined portion 130 DL may include a plurality of inclined portions 130 DL 1 to 130 DL 4 , and the plurality of inclined portions 130 DL 1 to 130 DL 4 may be extended from edges of the flat portion 130 B. For example, the first inclined portion 130 DL 1 may be extended from the upper edge of the flat portion 130 B, the second inclined portion 130 DL 2 may be extended from the left edge of the flat portion 130 B, the third inclined portion 130 DL 3 may be extended from the lower edge of the flat portion 130 B, and the fourth inclined portion 130 DL 4 may be extended from the right edge of the flat portion 130 B. In this instance, the plurality of inclined portions 130 DL 1 to 130 DL 4 may have different inclinations.

The height H of the projection 1341 may correspond to the depth D 1 of the first trench 134 . Namely, the height H of the projection 1341 may be substantially the same as the depth D 1 of the first trench 134 . The projection 1341 may be positioned in the center (based on the up-down direction UD) of a bottom surface of the first trench 134 .
Referring to FIG. 9 , the third trench 136 may have a predetermined width W 3 and a predetermined depth D 3 . The predetermined depth D 3 of the third trench 136 may be equal to or slightly different from the depth D 1 of the first trench 134 . The width W 3 of the third trench 136 may be different from the width W 1 of the first trench 134 . The width W 3 of the third trench 136 may be greater than the width W 1 of the first trench 134 . For example, the width W 3 of the third trench 136 may be more than two times the width W 1 of the first trench 134 .
Projections 1361 and 1362 may be sequentially formed along a longitudinal direction (i.e., the left-right direction LR) of the third trench 136 . In this instance, the projections 1361 and 1362 may be arranged in a plurality of rows. The projections 1361 and 1362 may be formed in pairs. The projections 1361 and 1362 may form a pair, and a plurality of pairs of projections 1361 and 1362 may be sequentially formed along the longitudinal direction of the third trench 136 .
A pair of projections 1361 and 1362 may be arranged in a width direction (i.e., the up-down direction UD) of the third trench 136 . Namely, one projection 1362 of the pair of projections 1361 and 1362 may be formed close to the first trench 134 on a bottom surface of the third trench 136 , and the other projection 1361 may be formed close to the third inclined portion 130 DL 3 on the bottom surface of the third trench 136 . A distance DP between the pair of projections 1361 and 1362 may be more than two times a half of a width of the substrate 122 described above or below.
The description of the third trench 136 may be equally applied to the second trench 132 .
FIGS. 10 to 17 illustrate examples of coupling light sources according to one embodiment.
Referring to FIGS. 10 and 11 , a coupling groove 122 h may be formed on the substrate 122 . The coupling groove 122 h may be formed in an elongated shape on the substrate 122 . The coupling groove 122 h may be extended along a longitudinal direction of the substrate 122 . The coupling groove 122 h may have a circular insertion groove 122 R at one end.
A projection 1341 may have a head HD smaller than a diameter d of the insertion groove 122 R. The head HD of the projection 1341 may be formed to be larger than a width w of the coupling groove 122 h . Hence, the projection 1341 may be inserted into the insertion groove 122 R and may couple the substrate 122 to the frame 130 while sliding along the coupling groove 122 h.
Referring to FIG. 12 , a coupling groove 122 h may be formed on the substrate 122 . The coupling groove 122 h may be formed in an elongated shape on the substrate 122 . A projection 1341 may have a head HD smaller than a diameter d of the insertion groove 122 R. The head HD of the projection 1341 may be formed to be larger than a width w of the coupling groove 122 h formed by the guides 122 G 1 and 122 G 2 . Hence, the projection 1341 may be inserted into the insertion groove 122 R and may couple the substrate 122 to the frame 130 while sliding along the coupling groove 122 h and the guides 122 G 1 and 122 G 2 .
Referring to FIG. 13 , a projection 1341 may not protrude to the outside of the substrate 122 and may be positioned inside a coupling groove 122 h . A head HD of the projection 1341 may be positioned on an upper surface of a first guide 122 G 1 . The head HD of the projection 1341 may contact a portion of the upper surface of the first guide 122 G 1 . Hence, the reflective sheet 126 described above or below may be placed flat on the substrate 122 . A height of the projection 1341 may be equal to or less than a thickness of the substrate 122 .
Referring to FIG. 14 , the substrate 122 and/or the light assembly 124 may be positioned in the first trench 134 . A depth D 1 of the first trench 134 may be substantially the same as the thickness of the substrate 122 . The substrate 122 and/or the light assembly 124 may be fixed or attached to the first trench 134 . An adhesive member AD may fix or attach the substrate 122 to the first trench 134 . For example, the adhesive member AD may be a double-sided tape. The depth D 1 of the first trench 134 may be substantially the same as a sum of thicknesses of the substrate 122 and the adhesive member AD. Namely, the light assembly 124 may seem to be placed on the flat portion 130 B of the frame 130 when viewed from the side. The first trenches 134 may have a depth capable of accommodating the substrate 122 and/or the adhesive member AD.
A width W 1 of the first trench 134 may be substantially equal to or greater than the width of the substrate 122 . The width W 1 of the first trench 134 may be substantially equal to or less than an outer diameter of the light assembly 124 .
Referring to FIG. 15 , the third trench 136 may provide a space capable of accommodating the plurality of substrates 122 . The third trench 136 may have an area capable of arranging the plurality of the substrates 122 at one time.
In this instance, the substrate 122 and/or the light assembly 124 may be biased to one side in an entire portion of the third trench 136 . Namely, a position of the substrate 122 and/or the light assembly 124 on the third trench 136 may be changed.
The substrate 122 and/or the light assembly 124 on the third trench 136 may be disposed closer to the first trench 134 . Alternatively, the substrate 122 and/or the light assembly 124 on the third trench 136 may be disposed closer to the third inclined portion 130 DL 3 . This means that a distance between the light sources of the backlight unit can be adjusted.
For example, the substrate 122 and/or the light assembly 124 may be extended in the left-right direction LR and may be biased to an upper side of the third trench 134 based on the up-down direction UD. Alternatively, the substrate 122 and/or the light assembly 124 may be biased to a lower side of the third trench 134 based on the up-down direction UD.
Referring to FIG. 16 , projections 1361 and 1362 may be positioned on the third trench 136 . The projections 1361 and 1362 may protrude from a bottom surface of the third trench 136 . The first projection 1361 may be positioned on the third trench 136 close to the third inclined portion 130 DL 3 , and the second projection 1362 may be positioned on the third trench 136 close to the first trench 134 . Namely, the first projection 1361 and the second projection 1362 may be positioned sequentially or in series in the up-down direction UD.
When the substrate 122 and/or the light assembly 124 are/is coupled to the third trench 134 , the substrate 122 may be inserted into the first projection 1361 . The second projection 1362 may be positioned next to the substrate 122 and/or the light assembly 124 and may protrude from the bottom surface of the third trench 136 . Namely, the substrate 122 may be inserted into or coupled to the first projection 1361 or the second projection 1362 .
Referring to FIG. 17 , the first trench 134 may include a row of projections 1341 . The row of projections 1341 may seem like one projection when viewed from a cross-section of the frame 130 . The second trench 132 may include two rows of projections 1321 and 1322 . The two rows of projections 1321 and 1322 may seem like two projections when viewed from the cross-section of the frame 130 .
A height H 1 of the first projection 1321 may be substantially the same as a height H 2 of the second projection 1322 . A depth D 2 of the second trench 132 may be substantially the same as the height H 1 of the first projection 1321 . A distance DP between the first projection 1321 and the second projection 1322 may be larger than the width of the substrate 122 .
FIGS. 18 to 21 illustrate examples of a frame according to one embodiment.
Referring to FIG. 18 , the frame 180 may include a skeleton 130 F. The skeleton 130 F may be formed in a portion of the frame 130 in the up-down direction UD. The skeleton 130 F of the frame 130 may be formed on the flat portion 130 B of the frame 130 by a press.
The frame 180 may include a plurality of skeletons 130 F. A first skeleton 130 F 1 and a second skeleton 130 F 2 may be disposed in the center of the flat portion 130 B of the frame 130 . The first skeleton 130 F 1 may be positioned in parallel with the second skeleton 130 F 2 . A third skeleton 130 F 3 and a fourth skeleton 130 F 4 may be disposed on the side of the flat portion 130 B of the frame 130 . The third skeleton 130 F 3 may be positioned in parallel with the fourth skeleton 130 F 4 .
The trenches 132 , 134 and 136 may cross the skeletons 130 F. In this instance, the skeletons 130 F crossing the trenches 132 , 134 and 136 may be further retracted to the rear of the flat portion 130 B of the frame 130 . A height difference formed by the flat portion 130 B of the frame 130 and the skeletons 130 F may be more than a height difference formed by the flat portion 130 B of the frame 130 and the trenches 132 , 134 and 136 . Hence, the skeletons 130 F may not affect the flatness of the substrate 122 coupled to the trenches 132 , 134 and 136 .

Referring to FIG. 20 , the frame 130 may include a flat portion 130 B, an inclined portion 130 DL 1 , a flange 130 P 1 , and a sidewall 130 SW. The inclined portion 130 DL 1 of the frame 130 may form a predetermined angle θ 1 with the flat portion 130 B of the frame 130 . For example, the predetermined angle θ 1 may be 45 degrees. In this instance, the inclined portion 130 DL 1 may be a first inclined portion 130 DL 1 .
The frame 130 may include a support portion 130 SHP 1 and a hook portion 130 HK. The support portion 130 SHP 1 may be formed on the flange 130 P 1 of the frame 130 . The hook portion 130 HK may be formed on the flange 130 P 1 of the frame 130 . In this instance, the flange 130 P 1 may be a first flange 130 P 1 . The support portion 130 SHP 1 and the hook portion 130 HK may seem to overlap each other when viewed from a cross section of the frame 130 . In this instance, the support portion 130 SHP 1 may further protrude to the inside of the frame 130 than the hook portion 130 HK. Namely, the inclined portion 130 DL 1 may be closer to the support portion 130 SHP 1 than the hook portion 130 HK.
The support portion 130 SHP 1 (or 130 SH) may be referred to as a first rib. The hook portion 130 HK may be referred to as a second rib.
Referring to FIG. 21 , the frame 130 may include a flat portion 130 B, an inclined portion 130 DL 4 , a flange 130 P 4 , and a sidewall 130 SW. The inclined portion 130 DL 4 of the frame 130 may form a predetermined angle θ 2 with the flat portion 130 B of the frame 130 . For example, the predetermined angle θ 2 may be 60 degrees. In this instance, the inclined portion 130 DL 4 may be a fourth inclined portion 130 DL 4 . In addition, the inclined portion 130 DL 4 may be a second inclined portion 130 DL 2 or a third inclined portion 130 DL 3 .
The frame 130 may include a support portion 130 SHP 4 and a hook portion 130 HK. The support portion 130 SHP 1 may be formed on the flange 130 P 4 of the frame 130 . The hook portion 130 HK may be formed on the flange 130 P 4 of the frame 130 . In this instance, the flange 130 P 4 may be a fourth flange 130 P 4 . In addition, the flange 130 P 4 may be a second flange 130 P 2 or a third flange 130 P 3 .
The support portion 130 SHP 1 and the hook portion 130 HK may seem to overlap each other when viewed from a cross section of the frame 130 . In this instance, the support portion 130 SHP 1 may further protrude to the inside of the frame 130 than the hook portion 130 HK. Namely, the inclined portion 130 DL 4 may be closer to the support portion 130 SHP 1 than the hook portion 130 HK.
FIGS. 22 to 29 illustrate examples of the arrangement of light sources according to one embodiment.
Referring to FIG. 22 , a first substrate 122 A may be disposed on the first trench 134 . A second substrate 122 B may be disposed on the second trench 132 . A third substrate 122 C may be disposed on the third trench 136 . The first substrate 122 A, the second substrate 122 B, and the third substrate 122 C may be sequentially arranged in the up-down direction of the frame 130 .
The second substrate 122 B may be disposed on the upper side of the second trench 132 . In other words, the second substrate 122 B may be disposed on the second trench 132 at a location close to a first inclined portion 130 DL 1 . The third substrate 122 C may be disposed on the lower side of the third trench 136 . In other words, the third substrate 122 C may be disposed on the third trench 136 at a location close to a third inclined portion 130 DL 3 .
The second substrate 122 B and the third substrate 122 C may be separated from each other as far as possible within a range allowed by the second and third trenches 132 and 136 . The first substrate 122 A may be disposed in the center of the second substrate 122 B and the third substrate 122 C. The light assemblies 124 may be sequentially disposed on each of the substrates 122 A, 122 B and 122 GB in the left-right direction. Hence, light provided by the light assemblies 124 may be uniformly distributed.
Referring to FIG. 23 , the light assembly 124 may be spaced apart from the first inclined portion 130 DL 1 by a predetermined distance. The light assembly 124 may be spaced apart from the fourth inclined portion 130 DL 4 by a predetermined distance. The first inclined portion 130 DL 1 may form an inclination of about 45° with the flat portion 130 B of the frame 130 . The fourth inclined portion 130 DL 4 may form an inclination of about 60° with the flat portion 130 B of the frame 130 .
In this instance, the light assembly 124 that is spaced apart from the fourth inclined portion 130 DL 4 , can provide the effective optical characteristics even at a distance from the fourth inclined portion 130 DL 4 owing to an angle formed by the fourth inclined portion 130 DL 4 and the flat portion 130 B of the frame 130 . Namely, as the fourth inclined portion 130 DL 4 has a relatively steep inclination, light generated in the light assembly 124 can be uniformly distributed without forming a dark portion around the fourth inclined portion 130 DL 4 .
Namely, the light assembly 124 may be spaced apart from the first inclined portion 130 DL 1 by a distance D 1 shorter than a separation distance D 3 between the light assembly 124 and the fourth inclined portion 130 DL 4 based on an angle between the first inclined portion 130 DL 1 and the flat portion 130 B of the frame 130 . Namely, the distance D 1 may be less than the distance D 3 .
As the first inclined portion 130 DL 1 has a relatively gentle inclination, light provided by the light assembly 124 may form a dark portion around the first inclined portion 130 DL 1 . However, as the distance between the light assembly 124 and the first inclined portion 130 DL 1 decreases, the optical characteristics may be improved. Namely, even when the first inclined portion 130 DL 1 has the relatively gentle inclination, light generated in the light assembly 124 can be uniformly distributed without forming a dark portion around the first inclined portion 130 DL 1 .
›DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE EMBODIMENTS · 8 of 12
Referring to FIG. 24 , the reflective sheet 126 may be positioned in front of the frame 130 and/or substrates 122 A, 122 B and 122 C (see FIG. 23 ). The reflective sheet 126 may have through holes 235 (see FIG. 3 ). The upper part and/or the side of the light assembly 124 may be positioned on the front surface of the reflective sheet 126 through the through holes 235 . FIG. 24 illustrates an example where the substrates 122 A, 122 B and 122 C shown in FIG. 22 are disposed in three rows.
Referring to FIG. 25 , a first substrate 122 A may be disposed on the second trench 132 , and a second substrate 122 B may be disposed on the third trench 136 . The first substrate 122 A and the second substrate 122 B may be sequentially arranged in the up-down direction of the frame 130 .
The first substrate 122 A may be disposed on the lower side of the second trench 132 . In other words, the first substrate 122 A may be disposed on the second trench 132 at a position away from the first inclined portion 130 DL 1 . The second substrate 122 B may be disposed on the upper side of the third trench 136 . In other words, the second substrate 122 B may be disposed on the third trench 136 at a position away from the third inclined portion 130 DL 3 .
In another aspect, the first substrate 122 A on the second trench 132 may be disposed as close as possible to the first trench 134 , and the second substrate 122 B on the third trench 136 may be disposed as close as possible to the first trench 134 .
The first substrate 122 A and the second substrate 122 B may be disposed as close as possible to each other within a range allowed by the trenches 132 and 136 . Further, the light assemblies 124 may be sequentially arranged on each substrate 122 in the left-right direction. Hence, although the substrate 122 and/or the light assembly 124 are omitted in the first trench 134 , light provided by the light assemblies 124 can be uniformly distributed.
Referring to FIG. 26 , the reflective sheet 126 may be positioned in front of the frame 130 and/or substrates 122 A and 122 B (see FIG. 25 ). The reflective sheet 126 may have through holes 235 (see FIG. 3 ). The upper part and/or the side of the light assembly 124 may be positioned on the front surface of the reflective sheet 126 through the through holes 235 . FIG. 26 illustrates an example where the substrates 122 A and 122 B shown in FIG. 25 are disposed in two rows.
Referring to FIGS. 27 and 28 , the first substrate 122 A may be disposed on the lower side of the second trench 132 , and the second substrate 122 B may be disposed on the upper side of the third trench 136 . The first substrate 122 A and the second substrate 122 B may be disposed as close as possible to each other inside the trenches 132 and 136 .
The light assembly 124 may include a lens extended in the up-down direction UD. When the substrate 122 A and/or the light assembly 124 are positioned on the lower side of the second trench 132 , the light assembly 124 may be far from the first inclined portion 130 DL 1 . When the light assembly 124 is far from the first inclined portion 130 DL 1 , a dark portion may be formed around the first inclined portion 130 DL 1 by the first inclined portion 130 DL 1 having the relatively gentler inclination than the fourth inclined portion 130 DL 4 .
In this instance, the light assembly 124 having the lens of a shape extended in the up-down direction UD can improve the optical characteristics around the first inclined portion 130 DL 1 in spite of a change in a position of the substrate 122 A in the second trench 132 . Namely, the light assembly 124 can maintain the uniform distribution of light around the first inclined portion 130 DL 1 .
As the position of the substrate 122 A changes, a distance D 11 between the light assembly 124 and the first inclined portion 130 DL 1 and a distance D 33 between the light assembly 124 and the fourth inclined portion 130 DL 4 may change. This change may lead to a change in the optical characteristics. The change in the optical characteristics may form a dark portion and a bright portion, causing the deterioration of image quality. Even when the position of the substrate 122 A changes, the light assembly 124 can provide light with the uniform distribution for the first inclined portion 130 DL 1 and the fourth inclined portion 130 DL 4 owing to a change in the shape of the lens of the light assembly 124 .
Referring to FIG. 29 , the reflective sheet 126 may be positioned in front of the frame 130 and/or substrates 122 A and 122 B (see FIG. 27 ). The reflective sheet 126 may have through holes 235 (see FIG. 3 ). The upper part and/or the side of the light assembly 124 may be positioned on the front surface of the reflective sheet 126 through the through holes 235 .
FIGS. 30 to 38 illustrate examples of the coupling and the arrangement of light sources according to one embodiment.
Referring to FIGS. 30 and 31 , a first holder 430 may be positioned on the frame 130 . The first holder 430 may be positioned on the flat portion 130 B. The first holder 430 may be formed on the flat portion 130 B. The first holder 430 may be positioned adjacent to the first inclined portion 130 DL 1 . The first holder 430 may include a plurality of first holders 430 . For example, the first holder 430 may form a row of first holders 430 in the left-right direction along the first long side LS 1 of the frame 130 on the flat portion 130 B of the frame 130 .
